The American tennis association has been criticized for its exclusion of wheelchair tennis from the competition in the initial US Open semi-final plan. Yesterday, local time, the American Network Association announced that the U.S. Open will resume wheelchair tennis in 2020.

In the originally announced plan for this year's us open, singles qualification, wheelchair tennis, youth and mixed doubles were cancelled, and doubles for men and women were also reduced from 64 seats to 32 seats. However, after the plan was released, some wheelchair tennis players expressed strong dissatisfaction. In the face of pressure from public opinion, the American Network Association issued a statement on Friday, admitting that they should communicate with wheelchair tennis players before making the resumption plan. Then Chris wedmayer, a spokesman for the American tennis association, said that the US Open would provide wheelchair tennis players with three compensation options, one of which is to provide a financial compensation for this year's non competition. Since then, Stephen hood, who won the wheelchair tennis singles in the US open four times, has released a complete compensation plan on social media. The other two options are the US wheelchair open in Orlando, Florida and the wheelchair tennis competition during the US open this year, but the bonus is discounted.

It is reported that the American Tennis Association held several online meetings with wheelchair tennis players and the International Tennis Federation last week, and finally reached the current plan, that is, the wheelchair tennis competition of the US Open in 2020 will be held in Billie Jane King National Tennis Center from September 10 to 13, the last four days of the US open this year. Wheelchair tennis players will enter the venue from September 7 and follow the same health and safety procedures as all players at the US Open.
