The structure of electric wheelchairs is far more complex than that of ordinary wheelchairs. It mainly includes the following institutions:

1. The driving mechanism is powered by 12V or 24V batteries, including front wheel drive and rear wheel drive. Front wheel drive is easy to cross obstacles.

2. There are two kinds of wheelchair speed change mechanisms: step speed change and stepless speed change.

3. The wheelchair brake mechanism mostly adopts the reverse action of the motor.

4. The battery is a 24V automotive battery, which can be used for 3-6 hours continuously after being charged once.

5. Control mechanisms include manual control, head control, tongue control, buccal control, frequency control, pneumatic control, voice control, etc. Except for manual control, other controls are used for patients with quadriplegia.

For C4 and below injuries, pneumatic control should be used as much as possible when the respiratory muscles are still functional. For C4 and above injuries, the respiratory function is poor, and head, tongue, cheek, chin, voice control and other control forms can be selected, but most of them are chin control.
